Now in its sixth year, the London Restaurant Festival seeks to celebrate London’s reputation as one of the world’s culinary capitals. Held from October 8 to 27, the 2014 festival is divided into two elements: Events and Festival Menus.
Festival menus are the promotional menus offered by more than 250 restaurants for the festival’s duration. They’re typically cheaper than the set or a la carte menus on offer at these establishments and are designed to encourage diners to try as many new places as possible. Participating restaurants include Boulestin, Roux at The Landau and Trishna.
Reflecting the diversity of London’s restaurants scene, festival events vary and aim to incorporate as many different cuisines as possible.
Among the highlights are a series of talks and dinners with celebrity chefs such as Theo Randall, Jason Atherton and Angela Hartnett – but they all sold out instantly so let’s not dwell on those.
Elsewhere, the Gourmet Odyssey will allow groups to participate in a citywide gastronomic road trip, with different courses of a three-course meal all served in different venues. Themed tours focus on restaurants within hotels, or in a certain region for example.
